Youth

Xtreme

Our Sunday morning group for those in school years 7-11 meets during the 11am service most weeks (apart from the second week of the month when we stay in church for the communion service). We gather at the church centre for the first part of the service and then head to Cambourne Soul (the youth centre) where we explore the Bible in a fun and engaging way.

Thirst

This is a monthly youth service which takes place on the second Sunday of each month at Comberton Baptist Church from 6.00-8.30pm. It is run by WCCYM for young people from all churches in West Cambridge and consists of a meal, worship, an invited speaker and time for discussion and reflection.

Youth Socials

These are held regularly. They usually involve playing games, having some snacks and getting to know each other better. The socials run from 6.30-8.00pm.

Schools

There are various Christian lunchtime groups run at both of our local secondary schools, supported by Cambourne Church:

Cambourne Village College:
A Christian Union for those in Yr 7 & 8 is held every Tuesday lunchtime.
A Chrstian Union for those in Yr 9,10 & 11 is held every Wednesday lunchtime.

Comberton Village College:
Crossover – a Christian discussion group held every Friday lunchtime.

Comberton Sixth Form:
Christian Union – a Christian discussion group held every Wednesday lunchtime.
Mocha The Week – a space to chat to youth workers and have a tea, coffee or hot chocolate every Friday lunchtime outside the Core.

Welcome Visitors

New to Church?

00 Welcome

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

When & where does the church meet?

Due to the latest government advice regarding the protection of our community during the Coronavirus pandemic we have taken the unprecedented and sad, but necessary, decision to suspend all church gatherings including home groups and Sunday Worship until further notice.

Please look at our Facebook page and this website for further details about how we will be walking together at this difficult time.

Sunday morning services are normally held at 9.30am & 11.00am; the 9.30am service is more traditional and reflective, while the 11.00am service is more contemporary with activities offered for children and young people. Communion is celebrated on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. We all meet together at 10.00am during the month of August. On the fourth Sunday of the month at 7pm there is an informal service called Encounter.

We meet at:

Jeavons Lane
Cambourne
Cambs
CB23 6AF

You can see a map on our contact us page

There is limited parking available on the site.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. There will be some singing to start with as well as some prayers and a reading from the bible. There will be a talk (some reflections) from one of the leaders of the church, with a chance to discuss it further at the end of the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What is there for children and young people at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the children and young people at the Church for ages 0–18. Children and young people stay with their families at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children and young people need to go to their programme. We have young church for those from 0 - Yr 6 and a youth group called Xtreme for our young people in years 7-11.

For more information about what happens in the children's and youth work please visit the relevant age group section under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
