Solar System

Solar System

As you will be aware, neither Gazebo (our Wednesday after-school club) nor Young Church (our Sunday session for children) is running in person at the moment. But we are pleased to launch ‘Solar System’, a new set of online resources for children produced by Cambourne Church. (We are especially grateful to David and Liz Wadsworth who have taken the lead in bringing these to you, but many others have been involved as well.)

Every three weeks we will be producing a new package of online resources to use at home with children. Each Sunday there will be a new ‘stellar starter’ – a video recording of a story with reflections and a song. There are also various ‘planets’ orbiting around those stories – activities of various kinds to help children of  different ages engage with the stories. ‘Rockets’ for the youngest, ‘Rovers’ for those who want to explore the most, and ‘Shuttles’ for those who are somewhere in between. But just choose the ones that are right for you and your family. Do them all if you like!

You will find that we will produce and upload new ‘planet’ activities once every three weeks, but the activities relate well to all three of the ‘stellar starter’ stories.

The first set of videos was uploaded on Sunday. We are exploring the life of King David as recorded in the Bible, and these first three ‘stellar starters’ all focus on the early part of his life. I think that you and your children will find them fun and engaging.

Here is a document giving details of the programme for the first three weeks. It tells you what videos you will be able to find, tells where to find them, and invites you to join a Facebook group where families can talk about what they have been doing – showing what the children have produced – and even ask questions so that there is an online community to support the online activities.

The videos can be found here.

Welcome Visitors

New to Church?

00 Welcome

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

When & where does the church meet?

Due to the latest government advice regarding the protection of our community during the Coronavirus pandemic we have taken the unprecedented and sad, but necessary, decision to suspend all church gatherings including home groups and Sunday Worship until further notice.

Through this time of restrictions due to COVID-19 you can find our main Sunday offering, Sunday Diffferent, on our YouTube channel www.youtube.com/cambournechurch. A new service premieres each Sunday at 10.15am and is available to watch at any time after then.
Please look at our Facebook page and this website for further details about how we will be walking together at this difficult time.

Sunday morning services are normally held at 9.30am & 11.00am; the 9.30am service is more traditional and reflective, while the 11.00am service is more contemporary with activities offered for children and young people. Communion is celebrated on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. We all meet together at 10.00am during the month of August. On the fourth Sunday of the month at 7pm there is an informal service called Encounter.

We meet at:

Cambourne Church
Jeavons Lane
Cambourne
Cambs
CB23 6AF

You can see a map on our contact us page

There is limited parking available on the site.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. There will be some singing to start with as well as some prayers and a reading from the bible. There will be a talk (some reflections) from one of the leaders of the church, with a chance to discuss it further at the end of the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What is there for children and young people at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the children and young people at the Church for ages 0–18. Children and young people stay with their families at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children and young people need to go to their programme. We have young church for those from 0 - Yr 6 and a youth group called Xtreme for our young people in years 7-11.

For more information about what happens in the children's and youth work please visit the relevant age group section under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
